Koh Samet or Ko Samed, is a small island about 7 kilometers long on the eastern Gulf coast of Thailand. This island jewel is one of the most beautiful islands around Pattaya. Travelers from all over the world appreciate the numerous white sand beaches.

Although Koh Samet has also become a popular destination for excursionists from Bangkok, you can still find enough hidden places on the island, some of which you still have almost to yourself. The atmosphere on the island is really romantic, especially in the south, and most people come back again and again.

Ao Prao

Ao Prao Beach is an absolute highlight of the island. For most visitors Ao Prao Beach is the most beautiful beach on Koh Samet. It is located on the west coast of the island and it really feels like you are in paradise. Gorgeous emerald sea, huge palm trees and soft sand. There are sunbeds and umbrellas for rent and beach restaurants that serve food and drinks with a view of the sea. Plus, you’ll find three fabulous hotels on this stretch of beach making it perfect for a beach vacation.

Ao Tubtim

This bay is a half hour or so walk from the Na Dan pier and is a good base for investigating the few beaches to it’s north and south. Favoured by those seeking a more tranquil and quiet beach experience.

The bay is hemmed in by the usual rocky outcrops on each side and the sand is Koh Samet’s trademark soft and aesthetically pleasing variety.

Ao Wong Duen

Ao Wong Duean is a bay that got its name from the crescent moon like shape of the beach. Ao Wong Duean is the most popular beach next to Sai Kaew Beach, but not big as Sai Kaew Beach.

This beach features sandy beaches sloping down to the sea, making it very suitable for water activities. There are many hotels, restaurants, Clubs and bars to choose from.

Sai Kaew Beach

Sai Kaew is the most popular beach on Koh Samet Island. It is located on its east coast in the north and short distance from the ferry pier. It's also part of the Khao Laem Ya National Park. The coastline is 780 m long and its width varies from 20 to 30 meters. The sea bottom is covered in white grainy sand. The water is transparent and very clean and the depth rises gradually. The first 30-50 meters are shallow, perfect for families with children. Sai Kaew also has a lot of tropical greenery and palm trees that provide added protection from the heat of the sun.

These are just 4 of the 14 wonderful beaches in the island. Each one has something to offer depending on personal tastes. The sand, weather and sea make Koh Samet a true paradise.
