Netflix has recently released the miniseries “Unorthodox” which is back door view into the Orthodox Jewish life.to a wider public. Originally it was released to a German audience in 2020, the series received great acclaim and even received a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series tells the story of Esty Shapiro, a Jewish women who escapes from her family and the Orthodox Jewish community in New York to make a new life in Germany. The story is based on the life and the book Unorthodox by Deborah Feldman. It’s a true story.
