Around 15% of world shipping traffic passes through the Suez Canal and the waters of the Red Sea off Yemen. But the latest Houthi escalation has already impacted global trade, with Red Sea shipping reportedly down by over a third. It comes as major shipping companies redirect their vessels traveling between Europe and Asia around the horn of Africa, increasing shipping times and costs.
