A man in his thirties has been apprehended by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department following a fatal stabbing incident, as reported by Lt. Jason Johansson. The stabbing occurred at approximately 2:42 p.m. in the 1400 block of N. Main Street, near the intersection of Main Street and W. Owens Avenue.

Upon receiving a call about the stabbing, Downtown Area Command officers were guided by witnesses and security personnel to the location of the incident. Both the assailant and the victim, identified as "unhoused," were involved in an ongoing dispute that escalated into a physical altercation on a sidewalk, eventually spilling onto the streets.

Lt. Johansson stated that after the suspect stabbed the victim multiple times with a knife, witnesses informed the police about the suspect's whereabouts and description. The suspect was apprehended while attempting to leave the scene heading southbound.

The preliminary investigation by homicide detectives revealed that the altercation had been ongoing for several days. Despite immediate medical attention at UMC Trauma, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

During the arrest, the suspect discarded the weapon into a storm drain, prompting ongoing efforts by the police to recover it. Lt. Johansson confirmed that there are no additional threats or outstanding witnesses at this time.

As the investigation continues, the police have closed Main Street from the 1400 block to Owens Avenue. Lt. Johansson urged citizens to avoid the area to facilitate the processing of the scene, witness interviews, and evidence collection. The suspect is expected to face arrest and charges in connection with the incident.
