Florida Republicans vote to strip authority from party chairman accused of rape

In a Sunday decision, the Republican Party of Florida took steps to essentially remove all authority from current Chairman Christian Ziegler, who is currently under investigation for alleged sexual assault, including rape.

This decision transpired during an emergency meeting of the Florida GOP’s state executive committee in Orlando.

The meeting was convened as the Sarasota Police Department examines accusations that Ziegler assaulted a woman in her Sarasota apartment in early October.

Ziegler, who has not responded to a request for comment, remains uncharged and has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, NBC News reported.
