The Black Horse=Famine & Food Shortage after War

The black horse is the symbol of famine and food shortage that comes after warfare, war is a cause & famine/food shortage is the affect. But, the prophecy says that this will not always be the case, and that the time left of this world and it's ways of warfare, bloodshed, greed & corruption is almost up. But, many have been saying this for thousands of years, what makes this time period different?
