Russia's Defense Ministry said it shot down at least 26 Ukrainian drones over occupied Crimea late Friday night and another six around midnight.
Social media users describe explosions around the peninsula, as well as in Genichesk, a town north of Crimea also occupied by Russian forces.
No casualties or damage have been reported yet.
In turn, the Ukrainian authorities report a new massive attack by Russian drones. Around midnight, the military recorded several groups of attackers advancing towards the southern districts of Kherson and Mykolaiv, as well as towards Kiev. Ukrainian media reported explosions on the outskirts of the capital.
Drone attacks have become an almost daily occurrence in the Russian-occupied border regions, although mass attacks are less common.
On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the city of Lviv in western Ukraine to honor soldiers buried at the Lychakiv cemetery, which has been set aside for war graves since 2022. He also met with the families of some fallen soldiers and officers.
