Panettone Recipe

Ingredients:

4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
4 large eggs
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup candied orange peel
1/2 cup raisins
Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt.
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the yeast mixture, eggs, softened butter, and vanilla extract.
Mix the ingredients until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes or until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until it doubles in size.
Punch down the risen dough and knead in the candied orange peel and raisins.
Place the dough in a panettone mold or a cylindrical paper mold.
Let it rise for another 30-60 minutes until it reaches the top of the mold.
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and bake the panettone for 40-50 minutes or until it's golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
Allow the panettone to cool completely before dusting with powdered sugar.
