The Lee County Sheriff's Office along with Florida Fish and Wildlife rescued manatees. The mammals were rescued on December 4 from a retention pond. Florida Fish and Wildlife biologists and Lee County deputies used nets to get the manatees out of the pond. They were landlocked from the receding water from Hurricane Irma. The manatees named "Bertha" and "Ernie" are in good health.
