February 4th, 2021 Luna county, New Mexico. NMSP officer Darian Jarrott pulled over a white Chevy pickup on interstate 10 near mile marker 101 as a part of a homeland security investigation. The driver, Omar Felix Cueva was under investigation by HSI for drug trafficking. HSI asked Darian's Sargent if there would be available units to assist them with pulling over Cueva on I-10 if the opportunity came. Darian's Sargent said there would be available units to assist on the 4th. Jarrotts Sargent spoke with him about looking for a white Chevy pickup and if he saw it, to initiate a traffic stop but only if Jarrott created his own probable cause to stop Cueva and do a search of his vehicle. During the traffic stop Cueva fired at least 1 shot at officer Jarrott. Officer Jarrott was struck and killed by gunfire. A persuit was initiated not long after. Multiple agencies chased Cueva for nearly 40 miles. A Las Cruces police officer successfully utilized a Persuit Intervention Technique (PIT). Cueva fired at Officers, Officers fired back, fatally wounding him.

At the time of this video being posted, authorities have arraigned Cueva's wife on a two-count indictment charging her for lying on a background check to a licensed firearm dealer along with knowingly giving a convicted felon ammunition and firearm.
