Kazakhstan declares regional emergency after massive snowstorm

A regional emergency was declared in the Jambyl province in the south of Kazakhstan due to a snowstorm and poor visibility on Friday (De. 15).

According to the state governorship, a regional emergency was declared in the region due to adverse weather conditions such as cold weather, snowstorms and decreased visibility.

In the statement, it was explained that the electricity was cut off in 4 districts of the state due to strong winds and snowfall.

In the last 2 days, more than 5 thousand people who were stranded in the region due to snow were rescued.

All intercity highways passing through the state borders were closed to traffic.

Jambyl Province Police Chief Armanbek Baymurzin said that more than a thousand vehicles were stranded on the highways in the region and more than 750 police officers were assigned to rescue the passengers in the vehicle in question.
