Anapa's old cemetery stretches along a cliff above a rocky beach. Judging by the old maps, the cemetery appeared after the annexation of Anapa fortress to Russia in 1829. In 1846, Anapa fortress received the status of a city and since that time, burials have already been found here. Officially closed for burials in 1978, although there are fresh graves in the cemetery. The cemetery is international - Armenians, Germans, Greeks, and Gypsies are buried here. Many tombstones of the XIX century have been preserved, some of which were reused at the beginning of the XX century. The old cemetery of Anapa is home to: Heroes of the Soviet Union; sailors who died at sea; participants in three revolutions; art figures; creative intelligentsia of the Tsarist and Soviet times; fallen during the Great Patriotic War.
