GHANA MARCHES FOR PALESTINE

Just as Israel is unrelenting in what has been called a genocide in Gaza, so is the global community undeterred in its support of Palestine. In this video, we see Ghanaians out in numbers for a show of solidarity with Palestinians, a break away from the president’s backing of Israel. This is just the latest in a series of marches in the West African country calling for a ceasefire and lasting solution to the Palestinian question.

Israel has killed more than 18,000 people in Gaza since October 7th, a city with half its residents are children. There has been international pressure that resulted in a week-long ceasefire, but the US has used its influence to further the killing of Palestinians. In addition to providing diplomatic cover at the UN, a lot of the weapons used on Palestinians have been manufactured in the US. Washington also provides over $3 billion a year in military aid and is in the process of disbursing another $14 billion. Cracks are, however, emerging as the backing of a genocidal regime has been wildly unpopular at home, marked by countless protests.
