Wyandotte County deputies, prosecutors take children victims of crimes shopping

A group of Wyandotte County children received an early Christmas present in a year that has otherwise been filled with more lows than highs. The sheriff and district attorney offices sponsored their annual "Heroes and Helpers" event. Today, they gave ten children who had been victims of crimes a $100 gift card, then paired them up with deputies and prosecutors for a shopping spree at the Target near The Legends. The deputies said this gave them an opportunity to create a positive relationship with the kids, rather than a negative one stemming from the crime that happened against them.
