In April 2011, Arunima Sinha, a national-level volleyball player, faced a harrowing incident when robbers targeted her for a gold chain, resulting in her being thrown out of a moving train. The severe injury led to the amputation of her left leg. Undeterred by adversity, Arunima, on May 21st, 2013, achieved the unimaginable by successfully summiting Mount Everest. Arunima Sinha, a former national-level volleyball player, faced a life-altering incident in 2011 when she was thrown off a moving train. Following the amputation of part of her left leg to save her life, Arunima drew inspiration from cricketer Yuvarj Singh, who triumphed over cancer. Determined to overcome her challenges, she set her sights on Mount Everest and, in 2013, became the first female amputee and the first Indian amputee to achieve the ascent. Arunima's remarkable journey continued with conquering Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa and Mt. Elbrus in Europe. Beyond her athletic achievements, she has received numerous awards and recognitions. Currently, Arunima is actively involved in planning to establish a sports academy for underprivileged and physically disabled children.
