At each of these developments, you have an expansion of state power, and the spread of the state tentacles into increasingly intimate areas of public life and individual life,” says Ramesh Thakur.

Mr. Thakur is a former United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and professor emeritus of Public Policy at The Australian National University. Now he is a Brownstone Institute Senior Scholar.
