Get Paid Big To Be An Elected Official!!

Shasta County Board of Education just gave the elected superintendent an 18,000 raise of 8%. She got an 11% increase last year.

Did anyone else in Shasta County get a 19% raise in the last two years?

She also announced her retirement. She has been in office for only one year this term. It is the practice of the County Office of Education, the sheriff, and the DA to win an election, get a raise, retire with an increased pension, and appoint their understudy.

In the next two weeks, we will start the interviews to appoint a New County Superintendent. I asked to be the runner-up in the last election, but the request was denied. I asked to put it to a vote by the people, but the request was rejected.

Let me know what you think in the comments below. Should the people get to vote, or should the County Office of Education appoint their buddies to the 240,000 plus benefits position?
