MUSINGS ON AI TV NEWS

I put my musings at the front this time as I am not sure how much of this awful video people will want to watch. I forced myself to watch all of it, but it is so much like the T.V. news I stopped watching decades ago that by the end I was grinding my teeth.

Here we go, the destruction of an entire industry. Not that they don't deserve it. Journalists allowed themselves to become spokespeople for government propaganda. They couldn't even force themselves to defend someone like Julian Assange who was carrying on the journalistic ideals they had abandoned.

Note in the satellite and asteroid story that not all the video is marked as A.I. generated. Anything that shows the satellite must have been A.I. generated, it would have been impossible for them to send someone out in a space suit to film it. So they have already broken their promise of marking all A.I. content.

I have to wonder if, or how, this development will be affected by the Australian misinformation, disinformation and censorship bill? Will the government approve of A.I. news programmes like this one because they are being used to spread their propaganda? Or will they ban this news show, and others like it, because it could be used to show news the government wants hidden? I suppose only time will tell, but if I had to guess I have seen no evidence that any Australian government is unwilling to censor.

Personally I would choose not to watch such shows as this one. The problem is for how much longer will I be able to identify them? In this one there are places where it is a little bit wonky. And at times the lips look like a spaghetti western. But judging from this it looks like it won't be long before most people will be unable to tell. Possibly people will develop apps for identifying A.I. videos, possibly they won't be able to.

Anyway, check out the video and see what you think.
