Evidence that God is Three-in-One

The Bible shows that God exists as three divine Persons - the Father, the Son Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Each Person is separate and unique, yet they are still one God together.

Jesus himself speaks of the Father as someone separate from him. He prays to the "Holy Father" asking him to protect believers (John 17:11). Jesus also talks about sending the Holy Spirit, the "Comforter," to help his followers after he goes to heaven (John 14:16). So there is Jesus, praying to the Father, and sending the Spirit - three distinct beings.

The apostle Paul also points to the three Persons of God. He writes a blessing mentioning "the grace of Jesus, the love of God [the Father], and the fellowship of the Spirit" (2 Corinthians 13:14). His blessing comes from the Father, Son and Spirit - not one, but three.

When Jesus was baptized, all three divine Persons appeared clearly at the same time. Jesus came out of the water, God's voice from heaven called Jesus his Son, and the Holy Spirit descended from heaven onto Jesus like a dove (Matthew 3:16-17).

While it's hard to fully grasp, the Bible shows God exists as Father, Son and Spirit - three divine Persons who relate together in deep love as the one true God. This is the mystery of the Trinity. Each Person has separate roles and activities, yet they are unified. The three-in-one God shows how much God loves relationship.

This is complex stuff! But in basic terms, God has revealed Himself as three-Persons-in-one - the loving Trinity.
