Pennsylvania news anchor Emily Matson was struck by a train and her death ruled a suicide

The unexpected death of acclaimed Pennsylvania news anchor Emily Matson on Monday has been officially determined as a suicide.

Matson, 42, was hit by a train at approximately 12:45 am on Monday in Fairview Township, Erie, Pennsylvania, her place of residence, according to the Erie County Coroner’s Office.

Emily Matson, who served as an anchor for Erie News Now and was married to police officer Ryan Onderko, last appeared on air on Friday. The station announced her tragic passing on Monday.

“It is with a very heavy heart that we have learned of the passing of our beloved Erie News Now news anchor Emily Matson,” said Scott MacDowell, Erie News Now’s news director, the Daily Mail reported.
