U.S. intelligence assesses Ukraine war has cost Russia 315,000 casualties

A declassified U.S. intelligence report indicates that the conflict in Ukraine has exacted a toll of 315,000 dead and injured Russian troops, representing nearly 90% of their initial personnel count at the onset of the war, as per a source familiar with the intelligence on Tuesday.

Furthermore, the report evaluates that Russia’s losses in both personnel and armored vehicles, inflicted by Ukraine’s military, have set back Russia’s military modernization by approximately 18 years, according to the same source.

When approached for comment, the Russian embassy referred inquiries to the defense ministry in Moscow, which, at the time, did not respond to requests, Reuters reported.
