Learn the history of how a tiny town of around 100 residents in Southwest North Dakota was once bustling with over 1,300 residents in the early 1900's. Marmarth was the largest town on the Milwaukee railroad line in North Dakota and by 1911, was the 5th largest town West of the Missouri River!! The railway terminated in Marmarth with a roundhouse.

The name Marmarth was derived from Margaret Martha, the granddaughter of Albert Earling, President of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad company.

Marmarth is now the destination for hunters and dinosaur enthusiasts! It has a steakhouse and club that was mentioned in the LA Times which serves some of the best steaks around! It also is home to a VanHorn's Western & Antique Auto Museum, one of the largest auto museums in the upper Midwest! Learn how JD VanHorn got his humble beginnings in car collecting.
