Israeli soldier smashes up bookshop for no reason
An Israeli soldier is being investigated after a video emerged online of him violently invading a bookshop for some reason. The unidentified soldier was filmed by his laughing comrades going through the various wares of the shop, such as books, stationery and small ornaments, and smashing them while making disparaging comments about the prices, and the Gazan education system at large. The video later fell into the hands of Palestinian news channel Quds TV.
The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) released a statement following the broadcast of the video: ‘The behavior of the soldier in the video is inappropriate and contrary to IDF values. The case will be investigated and handled accordingly. The IDF condemns this type of behavior.’
