Beachgoers play with stranded whale in waters near Australian beach

A sperm whale was stranded in the shallow waters of Rockingham Beach in Perth, Western Australia, on December 11, after being spotted close to the shore in the days prior.

Drone footage from Dylan deHaas shows the beached whale resting on the sandbar of the beach, displaying limited movement.

The beach was closed and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation, and Attractions (DBCA) warned that the animal may attract sharks.

The DBCA, along with a team from Perth Zoo, continue to monitor the situation at site.
