"As your constituents, we urge you to oppose this and any other government regulation of decentralized cryptocurrency. Senator Warren seems convinced that Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies, are merely "dark web money" used only for nefarious purposes. This is either short-sighted to the point of blindness; or deliberate intellectual dishonesty.

Bitcoin is decentralized for a reason: it's not controlled by any government or private entity. Unlike our Federal Reserve Bank that keeps devaluing the Dollar by pumping more of them into the economy (and has never been audited), there is a finite number of Bitcoin that can never be exceeded. It's an investment decision for millions of people. Senator Warren and her bill's supporters would seek to control something never meant to be controlled.

The United States government needs to maintain the same "hands-off" approach to cryptocurrency as it did in the internet's early days, when many politicians wanted to effectively regulate it out of existence. Those attempts were unsuccessful: and our economy has benefitted from it ever since. Bitcoin is not some scary currency of evil... it's the next currency evolution, and the blockchain technology forming its foundation has untold potential for future innovation.
