Governor Whitmer signed the final bill in the Reproductive Health Act yesterday (Monday).

House Bill 4949 repeals Michigan’s ban on insurance coverage for abortion without purchase of a separate rider and implements other protections for doctors and patients.

Whitmer signed the majority of the Reproductive Health Act last month, which essentially aims to remove any further laws in place that make abortion procedures unavailable in parts of the state.

However, Whitmer said she waited to sign the final bill Monday, as it marked the 10-year anniversary of the implementation of the very laws she was ending.
