Aerotanker Ilyushin Il-78 (NATO Code Midas)

It is a variant of the Il-76MD heavy military transport aircraft. Two fuel tanks are placed in the cargo compartment which is distributed to the aircraft in flight via UPAZ probes (suspended universal refueling unit). There are a total of 3 UPAZs on board: two under the wings and one in the tail.
Refueling is carried out at speeds between 450 and 520 km/h and at altitudes between 4 and 7 km above the clouds; the operation lasts between 15 and 20 minutes, during which the aircraft flies for at least 100 - 150 km.
