In what many (yours truly included) would call a high risk legal maneuver, Special Prosecutor Jack Smith has asked the Supreme Court to rule directly on the question of whether former President Donald Trump is immune from prosecution related to his actions on January 6. What makes the request so unusual is that there is currently an appeal of a Smith friendly decision before the Appellate Court. Why the rush to get the Supreme Court to rule on this and will it work?
