Man faces capital murder charge in death of 16-year-old Texas cheerleader Lizbeth Medina

On Sunday, authorities announced the arrest and charging of a man with capital murder in connection to the death of 16-year-old Lizbeth Medina, concluding a four-day investigation that had gripped the community of Edna, Texas.

Lizbeth, a student at Edna High School, was discovered deceased in her family’s apartment on Tuesday, triggering a search for the perpetrator.

Rafael Govea Romero, 23, was apprehended by the police and Texas Rangers at his residence in Schulenburg, Texas, approximately an hour away from Edna.

The Edna Police Department revealed that a vehicle and other items were also seized during the arrest, CBS News reported.
