We Never Expected These Things To Be Made In China

When you hear the term “Made in China”, you probably don’t think of something high-quality, luscious and long-lasting, right? Experience has taught us that the mass produced items that come from one of the most densely populated countries in the world usually look obviously fake and don’t last long enough.

But the places in this clip look amazingly European. The bad news is they are all Chinese fakes! In an attempt to subdue their already colorful culture in order to accommodate their own tourists better, China has reproduced all sorts of landmarks from all over the world, right in her own backyard.

There is more to this architectural mimicry than one might think. At the beginning on the 90’s, China’s economy skyrocketed and her people no longer wanted to live in those dull cubes made of concrete they liked to call apartment buildings. So, they started adopting the Western style, which they associated with power and wealth.

But China didn’t just stop at copying styles and cultural landmarks, oh no. China has outdone herself by copying entire cities! Now, you can take a gondola ride along a canal in fake Venice, or make a phone call out of a red phone booth in a fake London.

All these buildings may look tres European on the outside, there is one thing that the Chinese didn’t give up for the sake of Western living. Each replica must contain a Chinese tearoom and the interiors must follow the principles of Feng Shui.

Think of it as a western hardware with a Chinese software!
