Tbilisi Walks: Peking Avenue
In this video, we invite you to take a complete stroll down Peking Avenue (Beijing Avenue) from north to south, stretching from Zurab Zhvania Square to May 26 Square. From the 1920s until 1959, this was known as Lisi Street, later renamed Peking Street. In 1981, Peking Street was renamed Mira Avenue (Peace Avenue), a name it held for nine years. In 1990, it was renamed after Konstantine Gamsakhurdia. In 2006, it assumed its current name, and currently stands as one of the main thoroughfares in the #Saburtalo district of Tbilisi.
