The targeting of public school students for mental health services is increasing. There is push to label more and more children as mental ill. This is a huge reason why parents should be respected as the primary caregiver of their children and government schools should not intervene in student healthcare.
In this short video, a TCHATT Doctor in San Antonio works with public school officials to refer more patients to their services. Dr. Blader describes using existing relationships with school districts to build up patients in their TCHATT program. This is a dangerous line and students should never be targeted for mental health services. Obviously this raise a red flag to concerned parents that mental health programs in schools are there to create patients and money driven.
