All Things Spiritual-Every Rose Has it’s Thorn

The Song of Solomon 2:1 and Song of Solomon 2:2 describe Jesus as the rose of Sharon and the lily of the valleys. Jesus is God, the bright and morning star, and he is teaching his people to adorn themselves. Women should adorn themselves modestly, with shamefacedness and sobriety, not with broided hair, gold, pearls, or costly array. The rose is displayed for its beauty and fragrance, and our Saviour prefers the clothing of the lily. The Hebrew word sharon means "a plain or a level place." Jesus spoke about parables, where seeds fell by the way side, stony places, scorched, and among thorns. Some fell into good ground, and some brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, and some thirtyfold. The gospel of salvation is a common salvation, open to all who gather the rosebuds. Jesus Christ is not a rose locked up in a garden, but all may come and receive benefit and comfort in Him. Jesus Christ's thorns serve a purpose, as He is not a rose locked up in a garden but is not locked up in a garden.
