An ugly war of words erupted at the United Nations Security Council as members gathered to vote on a UAE-backed resolution on ceasefire in Gaza. UN Secretary-general Antonio Guterres said that Hamas brutality could never justify the collective punishment of Palestinians. Israel and the U.S. opposed the resolution calling for a ceasefire.
