דובר צה"ל: במסגרת פעילות לוחמי צוות הקרב של חטיבה 188 בלב שכונת שג׳עייה, נתקלו כוחות מהיחידה ללוחמה בטרור (לוט״ר) יחד עם לוחמים מגדוד 74 בחוליית מחבלי חמאס במתחם בית ספר בלב השכונה.
המחבלים ניסו למשוך את הכוח למארב ממולכד של ירי ומטענים, וחוסלו על ידי לוחמי יחידת הלוט״ר וירי טנקים של גדוד 74.
