Chessy Ricca is a Florida native who specializes in art and Florida history. Currently, she works as the Curator of the Historical Society of Martin County which includes the Elliott Museum and Martin County's oldest historic structure, the House of Refuge at Gilbert's Bar. Chessy's Florida history research spans from Pedro Menéndez de Avilés and his relationship to Spanish Florida through to prohibition era Florida and the misunderstood Ashley family of moonshiners. Chessy's Ashley research gained her a role on the Discovery Channel's adventurous TV show, Expedition Unknown with Josh Gates. On the show, she and two other local historians led Josh on a quest to search for John Ashley's stolen bank money in Florida's wild Everglades. Paranormal research has also been a part of Chessy's life, starting at a very young age. She served as team historian for War Party Paranormal out of Palm Beach County for about 5 years and continuous to join in on paranormal research sessions for fun. Chessy believes that the combination of historical research and the paranormal can help lead to truths untold in any history books.
