Springfield Police released footage of an officer shooting at Sangamon Juvenile Detention Facility

The Springfield Police Department has released body camera footage of the officer-involved shooting at the Sangamon County Juvenile Detention Facility from Sept. 30.
Police say information was received that the subject was armed, had possibly shot an individual, and was holding another hostage.
Upon arrival, officers encountered the armed subject at the entrance to the facility, and Springfield Police shot the suspect.
The injured suspect was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
All SPD officers involved in the incident have been cleared by the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office.
