This Week’s Activity and Events:

This week we talk about how we did on the Hapalua Half Marathon and Michelle shares her insights into what can go wrong when you don’t get the proper sleep, hydration, and nutrition while dealing with additional stress in the days leading up to a big race.

Jay continued his bike work with a 22 mile ride Tuesday and then Saturday, we both completed a tough “brick” workout on the Olamana Hills loop (Old Kalanianaole Rd) in Kailua. Each loop was 3.1 miles (5km) and after 8 loops (roughly 25 miles) we had total elevation gain of over 2500ft. Then after the ride, we put on our running shoes and completed 2 loops the other direction on foot. This type of multisport workout gets the name “brick” because that is what your legs feel like when trying to run after a long bike ride, lol!

After the long day biking and running, we hit up the huli huli chicken truck and devoured a whole chicken, two scoops rice and corn on the way home and wow, it hit the spot!

Sunday, Jay did an ocean swim at Outrigger canoe club to get a workout in the currents and waves of Waikiki. See you next week!
