“Harriets’ Inconvenient Truths (H.I.T.)” originated from a series of Cultural Humility workshops led by Kamora Herrington (Kamora’s Cultural Corner) in collaboration with The Harriet Beecher Stowe Center, Hartford, CT.
The Stowe Center chose to enhance their educational experience by incorporating a Black Art Heals Healing Artist to interpret the sessions.
Healing Artist David Jackson was the artist who interpreted the sessions and created "H.I.T" In totality, the piece showcases a duality often found in American culture. Elements surrounding Stowe’s popular literary piece, Uncle Tom’s Cabin and its impact are found scattered throughout the painting. It is a comprehensive surrealist
composition transparently spotlighting the anatomy of two Harriets which were a common theme throughout discussions.
