His passion for judo sparked at age 10, leading to annual summer trips to Japan, the sport's Mecca, from 1978 to 1988. Although initially aspiring to be a vet, Mark shifted to studying dentistry, eventually securing a position in dental diagnostics with Abbott Laboratories. Mark came to Tokyo as their marketing manager for clinical chemistry analysis in 1988.
