A new Night Swim trailer reveals a look at the aquatic creature terrorizing a backyard swimming pool. Produced by James Wan and Jason Blum, the upcoming horror flick follows a family who move into a new house and are haunted by a mysterious supernatural presence in the swimming pool. The Night Swim cast includes The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's Wyatt Russell, The Banshees of Inisherin's Kerry Condon, Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes actor Amélie Hoeferle, and Fear the Walking Dead's Gavin Warren.

Now, Universal has unveiled a new trailer for Night Swim. Watch it below:

The trailer finds the Waller family – consisting of Ray, Eve, Izzy, and Elliot – in their new home as they have various frightening encounters with the malevolent force lurking in the swimming pool, while also trying to balance their regular social lives.

After the first Night Swim trailer kept the mysterious presence concealed, the new footage reveals a few looks at the creature inhabiting the swimming pool. The first look comes early, as Elliot attempts to retrieve his action figure from the pool filter and is greeted by the creature lurking inside, a moment reminiscent of Georgie meeting Pennywise in the sewer drain in It. Another look at the creature comes as a young girl is pulled out of the pool by a seemingly maternal figure, which changes to a hideous creature, suggesting this supernatural force possesses some sort of shapeshifting ability.
The malevolent force also appears to have the ability to possess people. Later in the trailer, the family's patriarch Ray becomes possessed, which seems to occur when he is exposed to running water in the shower, suggesting this evil force's influence extends beyond the swimming pool and can infiltrate the entire house's water supply. Whether the Waller family can stop this malevolent force, or they get dragged under into the depths of inescapable terror remains to be seen when Night Swim releases in theaters on January 5, 2024.
