[Reflective & Contemplative Poem Collection]
Sometimes we experience emotional hardships in life with the loss of relationships and loved ones, for various reasons. Such losses have also arisen with 'measures' and 'attitudes' during and since 'the pandemic'. This poem acknowledges the challenge and how we may proceed within it toward self-healing.

This poem is part of a collection that I refer to as 'Reflective & Contemplative’ poems which contains ‘an Analytical and Pensive blend of observational ditties and experiences.

Space, Time, Loss

Estrangements and hardship
In the family … either of origin or choice.
Reek of abandonment . Family fault lines -
An agony – a vice – not very nice.

So many cases,
My own life included. There is loss.
Where separation exists,
You exclude or are excluded?!

Oh, but that never happened, to/with me.
If that’s the case, I’m delighted for you!
Lucky thee!!
However, who knows what we each carry inside?
Either now, or from another ‘space’ ‘time’?

Sometimes the ‘apart’ seem rational.
It is physical – could be only national,
Doesn’t even have to be international.
A hospital stay, going abroad for play.
A work commitment, that’s, somewhere … away.

Sometimes, the hardship is emotional.
A loss of one ‘devotional’ – like
The piercing of cupid’s arrow ….
Removed forcefully – such harrow!
This can make any inner or outer gaze narrow.

Or a parent, lover, friend or family member …
Just ‘up’ and ‘disappeared’. Dead even.
Or just departed, or otherwise taken?!
No contact, not a call. Disengaged.
You left - and feeling forsaken.

To ‘release’ our known or unrealised history
Return to now and it’s sacred mysteries.
Have you ever been enraged? Lost?
Gone a little ‘off the page’ !
Why, what, how, who, when, where?!

‘F’ it and free that mental strain.
The physical pain.
The emotional ‘distain’.
The ‘wherein’ is/was any gain?
We don’t need any anguish to maintain.

The heartache and often
A loss of confidence …. Can remain.
Even feelings of shame. Heart closed over.
Self blame?? A loss inside.
Felt, not spoken of … it can reside.
Some wounds, that we don’t even realise
That we carry. Unless we pause.
To remove the grip on the heart, of those ‘claws’

Give time, acknowledge with ‘seeing’
Allow self-feeling - tenderness on an inner reflect.
Forgive … then put it properly to rest … forget.
Seek healing, be renewed and whole.
Let the heart soften and fully unfurl.

To all those I’ve hurt –
Whether intentionally or not …
Forgive me please ... that’s my prayerful request.
And to those who’ve hurt me, known or unknown
Either in thought, by action or deed.
I now forgive and lovingly release you too.

God. He did for us both already intercede.
He helped … because He knew I was doing my best.
I am happy and truly blessed.
