Behind the wheel, awakening in the car,
Heart sinking, realizing things are bizarre.
Blood and grime, in a ditch, off the road,
A realization, a mistake, a heavy load.

My face, a stranger in your panicked sight,
Trust violated, fear of a robbery taking flight.
Imprinted in your mind, the irony so clear,
A stranger, your lifeline, now standing near.

"Do you hear me?" I ask in the disarray,
Poking and prodding, trying to allay.
Checking vitals, holding c-spine in place,
Calmly reminding you of the accident's embrace.

In the ditch, broken glass, blood has drained,
Covering you with my body, protection maintained.
Firefighters arrive, masks and tools in hand,
Assaulting the car, a scene you don't understand.

Storms, parties, drinks, it all played a part,
Laid bare on the road, revealing H-Town's heart.
Hurry but move slow, watch for the fuel's flare,
Jaws of life eating steel, a rescue affair.

I am Elasti-Girl, body a tarp so wide,
Covering you through the extraction, nowhere to hide.
Car accident scenes replay, night after night,
Slow-motion memories, an action movie's replayed light.

Vivid details etched in photosensitive brain,
Unfinished echoes, looping, a relentless refrain.
Years later, the memories, unfinished and clear,
A tragic rap echoing in an unfinished echo's sphere.

"Unfinished Echoes" is a deeply human exploration of a firefighter's attempt to heal by embracing their untalented, imperfect self through music. This documentary offers a unique and honest perspective on trauma, art, and the profound beauty found in showcasing the beauty of embracing one's flaws and the universal struggle to express the inexpressible.. It is a film that reminds us that sometimes, it's in the raw and unedited moments of life that we find the most profound connections to our shared human experience.
