Right On Crime opposes Louisiana H.B. 65 which designates simple burglary as a violent offense.

“This bill rolls back changes made in 2017, eliminates probation eligibility, and increases the sentence length by 40-60%,” said ROC LA Director Scott Peyton. “Data points to a 30% decrease in property crimes, increased time served for simple burglary, and fewer people being sentenced since the implementation of the 2017 reforms.”
