Compared to the Rafale-A prototype, the Rafale-C01 prototype is smaller and is wholly built around the M88 engine.

Rafale-C01 was smaller, lighter, more stealthy and (apparently) easier to maintain. The prototype was tested b/w 1991 & 1996
