The grisaille approach to painting from life vs ‘drawing with the color’ per the Boston School Impression

QUESTIONS:Can you discuss the teaching at the Grand Central Academy? Is this the realism that is achieved by outlining then filling in the color that you often refer to? I’ve seen grisaille paintings by their students that have the color applied and modeled very carefully starting at the top and coming down like a curtain to the bottom of the painting over a carefully drawn grisaille.
