Metro Detroit family spends Thanksgiving without father awaiting deportation
6 years ago
A metro Detroit family is spending their first Thanksgiving without their father after the Iraqi man became a detainee in June. “It’s probably the hardest thing I’ve had to deal with in my whole life,” Ashourina Slewo said. “What kind of daughter do I look like? Eating without my father sitting at the table.” Their father, 52-year-old Wedtha Slewo, is now sitting in an Ohio jail after he was one of many people detained in June. This is his family’s first Thanksgiving without him.
