Lockerbie: The Bombing of Pam AM Flight 103

Pan Am Flight 103 was a regularly scheduled Pan Am transatlantic flight from Frankfurt to Detroit via a stopover in London and another in New York City. The transatlantic leg of the route was operated by Clipper Maid of the Seas, a Boeing 747 registered N739PA that was blown up by a terrorist bomb December 21, 1988. The explosion punched a 50 cm (20 in) hole on the left side of the fuselage and the debris landed mostly on the town of Lockerbie.
