Withrow High School principal running 50 miles on Tuesday to inspire students to dream big
Withrow University High School Principal Jack Corey is on the run Tuesday, planning to log 50 miles on the school track on his 50th birthday. His goal is for his students to see that any limits in life are self-imposed, so he's trying to demonstrate the power of goal-setting, commitment, passion and determination. “I talk with students all the time about how you can limit yourself based on what you think you can do and what others say you can do,” Corey said. “I want them to know that most of the limitations we have in life are self-imposed." Corey began his ultramarathon feat at 4:30 a.m. and hopes to be finished by 2:30 p.m. when school lets out for the day. Several of his running friends and students will join him throughout the morning to encourage him and keep him moving. Students will also be participating in an activities fair to get them to step outside their comfort zones and join a group or club that interests them.
