Tbilisi Walks: Varketili Metro Station

Ⓜ️🚇 In this video, we invite you to descend to the terminal station of the Akhmeteli-Varketili Line of the Tbilisi metro - Varketili Station. This single-vault station, located approximately 33 meters below ground, was opened in 1985 as an extension of the line, following Samgori Station. In January 2018, four months after a complete interior overhaul, the station experienced a ceiling collapse, injuring 15 people. Following this incident, the station remained in need of repairs, which have finally commenced in 2023.

During the repair process, the station's wall and vault finishes were completely removed, resulting in its current somewhat gloomy and even eerie appearance. See for yourself in this video!
